Combourg Castle
The construction of the fortress began in the 12th century to defend Dol Cathedral and the independence of Brittany. The great writer and politician François-René de Chateaubriand spent his childhood here. Since then, Combourg Castle has been considered the cradle of Romanticism in French literature. It was completely restored in 1876 and is still inhabited by the author's descendants. The interior guided tour includes seven rooms plus a tour of the ramparts.
