Cancale : Cancale, 40 minutes from the campsite
Cancale has long been renowned for its oysters and shellfish. An undeniable attraction, these iodised delicacies can be enjoyed while admiring the wonder that is Mont Saint-Michel, set in the middle of the bay. Resolutely turned towards the sea, Cancale lives to the rhythm of its fishing port that you discover when you arrive by the corniche road. You can't get enough of the picturesque spectacle offered by the port of La Houle below, while the fishermen's houses lean against the cliffs in a tight row.
For lovers of wide open spaces and fresh air, the best way to discover the exceptional site of Cancale is to take the customs path which winds along the coast. This 11 km route (GR34) takes you from the port of La Houle to the Pointe du Grouin opposite the Ile des Landes, a classified bird sanctuary. It offers magnificent views over the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, which is punctuated by the flow of the tides, the flocks of birds and the passage of boats.
